Ighodaro has quietly been going on about his business from Chippa and and it now looks as if he might never go back to Sundowns at all. That is because, the latest reports suggest that the player has attracted the interest of some top clubs from North Africa as well as in France. This comes after the Nigerian has managed to score 10 goals in all competitions for a struggling Chippa side. Nine of goals have come in the league, with one coming in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal 2-1 loss to Sekhukhune United earlier this year.

It had previously been reported that clubs in North Africa, as well as in the French topflight are interested in Ighodaro, with the player still waiting on Sundowns before making a decision on his future. Now, having seen the likes of Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile firing blanks, it is believed that Chiefs have also decided to take a look at the 21-year-old.

Chiefs keep Ighodaro as an option

“Both the technical team and management have agreed that if they can’t get Khanyisa Mayo they should go for Ighodaro. But everyone knows that the problem is that the player belongs to Sundowns. No one really knowns what will happen with him now, as it seems they won’t get Mayo. All is in the hands of Sundowns and not the player” said a source to Soccer-Laduma.

In an ideal world, Chiefs fans would love to see their club sign both Ighodaro and Mayo if they’re to make up for the disappoints of the current season, as well as compete with Sundowns in the next.
