‘Kaizer Chiefs supporters are so spoilt’ – Pollen Ndlanya

Ndlanya affirmed Junior Khanye’s view that it would be advantageous for Kaizer Chiefs to engage former players in the recruitment process.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Pollen Ndlanya has jumped in on the club’s latest struggles.

Amakhosi have dropped their standards in the past decade, failing to win silverware for nine straight years. The Soweto giants currently lie 10th in the DStv Premiership and are in danger of missing out on the top-eight finish.

‘Trompies’ as he is famously known, had two stints with Chiefs. His second stint was the most memorable scoring 27 goals in 54 appearances for the Glamour Boys.

Speaking to iDiski Times, Ndlanya said Kaizer Chiefs needed to bring back their legends. Arthur Zwane is the only technical team member who has played for the club.

“Kaizer Chiefs supporters are so spoilt, they want to win all the time, Ndlanya told iDiski Times.

“But now my problem and my question is who’s doing recruitment, scouting the players?

“I always make an example with Sundowns. You will find the scouts, networking scouts – legends like Mambush are scouting for the team and the likes of Surprise Moriri they are scouting, the likes of Godfrey Sapula are scouts.

“But are they doing the same at Chiefs? I don’t think so. Who’s scouting for them because you need the scouts to scout quality players, a player that’s capable of playing for this big brand,” said Trompies.

Ndlanya echoed what another ex-Kaizer Chiefs star said about the club needing to recruit former players. Daveyton-born ex-player Junior Khanye also said Amakhosi needed to follow Mamelodi Sundowns’ recruitment style.

“Also appoint former players who have done well, who know the culture. Let me give an example, Teko Modise at Sundowns, there’s Hlompho Kekana, TIyani Mabunda, Surprise Moriri is also there and Godfrey Sapula,” said the former Amakhosi winger.

Ndlanya said the scouts at Kaizer Chiefs were part of the problem.
