Kaizer Chiefs still hoping to score R12.4 Million

Kaizer Chiefs inserted a sell-on clause into the contract of one of their former stars. That could be a very smart move.

FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana, once of Kaizer Chiefs, has discussed reported interest in him from Ligue 1 side Lorient.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star is a wanted man

26-year-old Siyabonga Ngezana has been superb for Romanian giants FCSB since a tough initial period where he didn’t start a game for eight matches. Then, club captain Vlad Chiriches was struck down by injury and Ngezana stepped into the side and has never looked back. His partnership with Cameroon star Joyswim Dawa in the centre of defence has helped propel them to the summit of the Superliga with an eight-point cushion.

With Ligue 1 strugglers still keen on Ngezana’s services, as they see him as someone who could aid their survival push, Kaizer Chiefs could be the biggest winners of all.

SELL-ON-CLAUSE COULD PAY DIVIDENDS

Siyabonga Ngezana, once a youth product at Kaizer Chiefs, has become a key figure for Romanian giants FCSB. The impressively versatile star moved there in June for a figure around the €600k mark (roughly R12.4 million). According to SoccerLaduma, however, Chiefs could be about to earn even more if a few dominoes fall into place.

FCSB owner Gigi Becali has insisted that he won’t sell Ngezana for anything less than €6m which is roughly R124 million, with rumoured interest from France’s Ligue 1. With a reported 10% sell-on clause inserted into his FCSB contract, Chiefs could earn north of R12.4 Million more should Ngezana move anywhere for that fee.
