Former Kaizer Chiefs coach set for shock Bafana Bafana return?

SAFA could be set to boost the Bafana Bafana technical team with a former Kaizer Chiefs coach, who has worked as the national head coach before.

SAFA are believed to be considering the return of a former Kaizer Chiefs coach a lifeline, with Bafana Bafana.

The man in question is thought to be Molefi Ntseki, who recently parted ways with Chiefs after being sacked.

Too the majority of the Chiefs fan base, Ntseki was already an unpopular appointment, with no positive track record. Prior to taking over the first team reigns, he had never coached a senior professional side. He did, however, coach Bafana Bafana after Stuart Baxter, before being fired for failing to qualify for AFCON 2021. The duo reunited as part of a new structure at Amakhosi, which put him in charge of football development.

Ntseki did not last long as Chiefs coach, however, being sacked before even the halfway mark of the season. This came after an unconvincing start to the campaign which also saw them knocked out of two cups. After being relieved of his duties, the club appointed Johnson to take over on an interim basis. Coincidently, Cavin Johnson also came into the club in a developmental role, before being asked to steady the senior ship.

The veteran mentor has since been in the wilderness since leaving Chiefs, but Ntseki’s fortunes might change soon. According to a report from iDiski Times, SAFA are considering him a role either with Bafana Bafana or the u23’s. 

SAFA to appoint Ntseki for Bafana Bafana?

“Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki might make a sensational return to the South African Football Association (SAFA), iDiski Times has been informed.

SAFA are reportedly considering Ntseki to beef up the Bafana technical team, to have a second assistant coach to Hugo Broos, or for the head-coach role of the national U23 side.” Wrote the publication.

Molefi would be no stranger to national structures, having coached both Bafana Bafana and the U17 side. During his time with the U17, he led them to the World Cup where they lost two out of their three games.
