Kaizer Chiefs are going through a rough patch this season, but this is not the first time they find themselves in the current situation.

According to OptaJabu, Chiefs have now equalled their lowest-scoring tally at this stage of the season (22 league games).

The Glamour Boys have managed just 19 goals from the 22 league games played so far, and that only happened ONCE before.

It was during the 2017-18 season when Chiefs had netted 19 goals in 22 games, but it doesn’t end there.

This season only, Chiefs have failed to score in 10 of those 22 matches, and it is also not the first as the same happened during the 2007-08 season.

ALL IS NOT LOST FOR AMAKHOSI…

While the abovementioned stats is alarming, all is not lost for Amakhosi simply because of their strong finish during the 2017-18 season.

Despite scoring just 19 times at the time, Chiefs finished third on the log and qualified for the Caf Confederation Cup.

This after they went to score eight more goals in their remaining eight league games to take their tally to 27 goals after 30 league games.

AN IMPROVED POSITION ON THE CARDS?

As things stand, Chiefs want to emulate their 2019-20 season success where they finished second behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

Well, it wasn’t necessarily a success because they could have easily been crowned champions after leading the log for a year.

However, that mission of wanting to finish second this season seems impossible as they are eight points behind Stellenbosch FC and aren’t playing well.
