Chiefs struggled during the first half of the season, with the team finding themselves in sixth place at the halfway stage. Part of the reason for that has been their leaking defence, coupled with their strike force firing blanks. In the case of the attackers, one could say that they have suffered due to a lack of creativity behind them. One player who was signed to remedy those creative concerns is Mduduzi Mdantsane

Mdantsane joined Chiefs amid much fanfare as one of the worst-kept transfer secrets in the league. The playmaker returned to his former stomping ground having been part of Amakhosi’s academy structures. Unfortunately for the former Cape Town City man, it has hardly been the return that dreams are made of. After first failing to hold down a starting position under former coach Molefi Ntseki, he was suspended under Cavin Johnson. The interim coach has not had the chance to use his abilities, and now, according to KickOff.com, that is about to change.

Mdantsane returns for Chiefs

“He (Mdantsane) is back at training with the rest of the (Chiefs) team. He has been working very hard at training. He looks determined and fights for his place. He has learned his lesson and put behind all the troubles,” said a source to the same publication.

Having done his time on the sidelines, Johnson might be the best coach for Mdantsane to come back to. The veteran mentor seems to be intent on giving as many players a chance as possible at Chiefs. There will be stiff competition, however, as one of the players to benefit from that is Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. Ngcobo has been given the chance to build momentum in the playmaker role, and Mdantsane will have his work cut out for him.
