The devastating news came out. Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly lost Caleb Bimenyimana for four months. Here’s a striker to sign in January.

So why should Kaizer Chiefs sign a striker in January when Caleb will be back by December? Well, what if he gets injured again or struggles to regain form?

Amakhosi need reliable cover, nevermind depth.

KAIZER CHIEFS SUFFER CALEB BIMENYIMANA BLOW

According to the report, the 24-year-old Burundian center forward will be missing from action for around a month.

It is said that the Chiefs leading goal-scorer has suffered a thigh injury after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Chippa United.

“SABC Sport has learnt that Bimenyimana, who is currently tied at the top of the league’s goal-scoring charts on six goals with the reigning PSL footballer of the season and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, is suffering from a thigh injury and will not play any further part in Amakhosi’s campaign until the domestic game returns after the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the end of December,” the report by the SABC’s Mazola Molefe said.

A STRIKER TO TARGET IN JANUARY

So Chiefs can’t really do much right now to correct the mistake of having only one number nine. Luckily for the Glamour Boys, the January transfer window is around the corner.

Looking at in-form strikers in the league, Peter Shalulile stands out but a move to Chiefs looks way too impossible.

With the exception of Shalulile, there is Bradley Grobler from SuperSport United. The 34-year-old striker, currently on five goals and one assist in 10 games, is a proven PSL number nine.

Why not Ashley Du Preez or Khama Billiat again? Well, the duo has proven it was easier to play as a striker at Stellensboch FC and Sundowns respective than at Chiefs.

Grobler is a perfect short-term solution that will need no extended time to adapt to the PSL. SuperSport could resist losing him, but money always has the last say, just ask Sundowns.
