A former Kaizer Chiefs player, David Kannemeyer, has highlighted the big distinction between Amakhosi and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Millions of fans can see the difference between Kaizer Chiefs’ failures and Mamelodi Sundowns’ flying success, but David Kannemeyer has explained it better.

Following another season without a trophy to mark eight years, former Chiefs and Sundowns left-back Kannemeyer believes the difference is in the short and long-term planning.
“I think the biggest issue is Chiefs don’t have a long-term plan like Sundowns. I don’t know what is their long term plan,” Kannemeyer told FARPost‘s Otis Ntshangase.

“Clearly Sundowns have dominated over the last couple of years because they have a long term plan and bring in quality players.
“People always say Sundowns got money, Chiefs got money as well. Sundowns don’t just buy any player. They bring in a player that is going to fit in the system very well.

“Sundowns got a scouting system that is very great, at the moment Chiefs haven’t got that. They have been struggling to get right players.”
“They need to sit down and re-think what they really want in the next five to 10 years,” the former number 3 concluded.
