KAIZER CHIEFS MUST STICK WITH ITUMELENG KHUNE

With the 34-year-old Khune’s future in the Chiefs goalposts up in the air, Khuzwayo believes “Mzansi’s Number One” is not finished.

“Yes, Khune is no longer the keeper he was a few seasons ago because of age but the quality is still there,” Khuzwayo told SowetanLIVE.

“Khune must stay while they look for someone who will be a long-term replacement for him.

I really don’t know where they’ll get that good keeper who’ll be convincing.

“I agree with those who say there’s a crisis at Chiefs as far as goalkeeping is concerned but again, those keepers there are the best you can find in the country, which means it’s a national crisis.

“The thing is, there are no better keepers than what Chiefs have in the market. They must continue with them, hopefully they can improve,” the former goalie concluded.

SUPPORT FOR ARTHUR ZWANE

Staying with Chiefs, an Amakhosi official has confirmed the club’s stance on Arthur Zwane amid boiling pressure to fire the club legend.

Speaking to the media after last weekend’s 1-0 loss to SuperSport that marked a record 11 defeats in a single season, the long-serving Media Officer Vina Maphosa revealed that Zwane is going nowhere.

“As things stand, Arthur Zwane remains coach of Kaizer Chiefs,” Maphosa told Radio 2000‘s Thabiso Mosia on Monday evening.

“We’re not even at this stage contemplating changing.

“There is a lot of investment in what we’re trying to do, and part of that investment is on coach Arthur Zwane himself.

“Also, just to mention that coach Arthur Zwane is not isolated in this discussion, we as a club we are one in this matter, we talk with one voice.“We’re not here to protect the coach, the coach is doing his job, he’s contracted to the club and he was appointed for a particular reason.
“In no time, the supporters will see exactly what we’re intend to do. I can confirm as well as they very soon we’ll be back to the glory days,”
