NO KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS IN THE BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD

Having named a few footballers from Naturena in the provisional list last week, Broos’ final of 23 players was announced on Wednesday via X.

Amakhosi’s trio of Sifiso Hlanti, Sphiwe Msimango and Pule Mmodi have been dropped.

BROOS EXPLAINS CHIEFS SNUB

Asked to share his thoughts, the free-talking Belgian believes Chiefs’ poor return of one victory in four games (by Wednesday) indicates the quality of players at Naturena.

“With Kaizer Chiefs it’s eight [11] points, I think. This is too much,” Broos said via TimesLIVE.

“Only five games and you are already eight [11] points behind the first team and it’s not a little team that is first.

“So yes, Chiefs have to improve. I saw the games — on Saturday I was at the Chiefs game — and I’m sorry, but at the moment there’s no [Chiefs] player who deserves to be a Bafana Bafana player,” the 2017 AFCON champion with Cameroon added.

TWO FRIENDLY MATCHES IN SEPTEMBER

The national side will compete in two friendly games in September following Zimbabwe’s elimination from the AFCON qualifiers.

The first friendly will be against neighbours Namibia on 9 September before a game against DR Congo on the 12th. Both matches will be held at the Orlando Stadium.

Did you know? Bafana Bafana have not played in Cape Town in almost 10 years. Reports say SAFA and the City of Cape Town do not see eye to eye since clashing over a planning issue in 2014.
