Former Kaizer Chiefs man retires, pays tribute to Amakhosi!

A former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has expressed his gratitude towards the club for giving him his big break in professional soccer

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits midfielder Sandile Zuke has confirmed his retirement from professional football.

The 35-year-old most recently featured for ABC Motsepe League side Summerfield Dynamos.

Prior to that, Zuke enjoyed football at a host of PSL side’s including Chippa United, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Golden Arrows.

It was at Kaizer Chiefs where the no-nonsense midfielder got his big break, all the way back in 2007.

He has since paid tribute to the Glamour Boys for their role in his lengthy success as a professional sportsman.

Zuke thanks Kaizer Chiefs for platform afforded to him

“As for me, I had a beautiful career. I’m grateful for the career I had, and I can’t complain.” – the midfielder told KickOff.

“I respected football, and it did the same for me. I’ve won the MTN8 Cup with Kaizer Chiefs. I still have the ring.

“I’ve also won the Vodacom Challenge which I don’t count as cups though.

“I will always be grateful to Chiefs because they are the ones who gave me the platform, they are the ones who developed me.”

In other news, Phathutshedzo Nange was once again nowhere to be seen in Kaizer Chiefs’ matchday squad this weekend.

The midfielder returned from compassionate leave due to a family bereavement two weeks ago however he’s unable to make Arthur Zwane’s 18-man match squad.

Things haven’t gone according to plan for Phathutshedzo Nange at Kaizer Chiefs this season.

The former Bidvest Wits star has made just ONE start under Arthur Zwane, playing a total of 142 minutes of football!

Amakhosi midfielder to cut his losses and move on?

There is a silver lining to Nange’s troubles though as he’s been linked with a move away from Naturena.

A move that will undoubtedly see him play under a coach that values him more than Arthur Zwane.

At least TWO top flight sides are interested in signing Nange next season according to the latest transfer reports.

According to FarPost, both SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC are keen on his services.

“His work rate is held in high regard by the two coaches. It’s understandable because of what he did for both of them.”

“Gavin wants him at SuperSport United, while Steve Barker is also interested in him. It’ll all come down to who gives him the better offer.”
