Ex-Kaizer Chiefs man rejoins Cape Town City as Tinkler’s assistant

A former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana man has rejoined Cape Town City, this time in a different capacity following his early retirement.

A former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana man has rejoined Cape Town City, this time in a different capacity following his early retirement.

Lebogang Manyama is back at City to work as one of Eric Tinkler’s assistants, the club confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

Manyama had returned to the Citizens in an attempt to revive his football career following his departure from Chiefs in June.

However, at the time, he was carrying an injury which turned out to be very serious so much so that he cut his career short by retiring.

Now, Manyama will get to learn the ropes as a coach under Tinkler’s wing while also expected to study towards acquiring his coaching badges.

MANYAMA DELIGHTED TO BE BACK ‘HOME’

Speaking to the club’s media team, Manyama expressed delight at being part of City’s technical team but most importantly, for returning home.

The 33-year-old was one of City stars immediately after the club’s formation in 2016. Manyama later left the country for Turkey.

He retired having played 302 professional matches at club level. Manyama scored 55 goals and provided 39 assists.

“I’m delighted to join this technical team. I have so many great memories here with coach Eric, and I always said I will be back one day to add more success. This club is home to me,” said Manyama.
