Kaizer Chiefs are set to dispense of Colombian striker Jasond Gonzalez at the end of the campaign. We’ve also got the latest developments ahead of Saturday’s Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

Jasond is surplus to requirements at Naturena

According to Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi have no plans for Efmamjjasond Gonzalez next term. The Colombian has featured 11 times for the Glamour Boys and is yet to break his goal-scoring duck.

“Kaizer Chiefs have no plans of holding on to South American striker Jasond Gonzalez, the Siya crew has been informed. Indications are that the club is already making plans for next season, as they look set to finish another campaign without a trophy in the cabinet. And with youth development product Wandile Duba fully part of the first team, Chiefs feel they can do without Gonzalez, as per SuperSport sources in United the know.” said the source.

DU PREEZ DERBY IMPACT ON THE CARDS FOR KAIZER CHIEFS?

Ashley du Preez returned from a long-term injury in December but was eased back into action, making substitute appearances until his first post-injury start against Sekhukhune in a 1-1 draw on 30 December. Since the resumption of league football after Afcon, Du Preez started the goalless draws against Royal AM and Swallows. He came on as a substitute for the 1-0 win over Golden Arrows. Du Preez has struggled to match his early-season impact. With just one goal in 13 league appearances, it’s been a frustrating campaign for the 26-year-old former Stellies man. Wandile Duba is likely to keep his place in the side after his stunning winner against Arrows, but Du Preez is an interesting option off the bench.
