Kaizer Chiefs wanted Billiat to take 60% salary cut – report

Are Kaizer Chiefs to blame for Khama Billiat’s disappearance? Reports claim that they wanted to slash the attacker’s salary by a whopping 60 percent.

The Kaizer Chiefs and Khama Billiat saga is back in the headlines with reports that the club offered the talisman a contract with a 60 percent salary cut.

Billiat’s contract with Chiefs expired on 30 June, and according to a statement released by the club earlier this month, the attacker was last seen at Naturena on 29 June.

In the same statement, Chiefs revealed that they had not been able to get hold of Billiat even on his cellphone as they wanted to know whether he would accept the said offer or not.

According to a fresh report by Soccer Laduma, Billiat would have walked away with a monthly salary of just R200 000 from the new deal tabled by Chiefs.

And perhaps that’s what made Billiat to walk away and disappear without a trace given that he was among the highest earners at Chiefs.

KAIZER CHIEFS RESPONSIBLE FOR KHAMA BILLIAT’S DISAPPEARANCE?

“Now, the latest reaching the Siya crew’s desk is that Amakhosi had offered Billiat a new deal, which included a pay cut of 60%,” reports the publication.

“This publication reported in May that there a talk of a possible 50% pay cut for the Zimbabwean-born star.

“However, it now appears that the club planned to further increase the cut to his salary,” added the report.
