Kaizer Chiefs have endured goalkeeping woes for most of the current campaign, but they may have just found a surprise solution.

Young Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bontle Molefe is going to the top, according to a source close to the club.

Molefe has a huge opportunity with Kaizer Chiefs
A source close to Phakaaathi believes 20-year-old goalkeeping talent Bontle Molefe has been urged to mount a challenge for the number 1 spot at Naturena. Molefe has been part of the first team group since 2019 but has yet to make his senior debut for Amakhosi. Right now, that same source believes Molefe has a huge chance to climb the pecking order and become Bruce Bvuma’s understudy ahead of Itumeleng Khune and Brandon Petersen.
A wrist injury sidelined Molefe for several months but the youngster is back in training and fully fit. Like Bvuma, he is an academy product who came through the ranks at Chiefs.

Too good for the Diski Challenge side?
Molefe has excelled for the DDC side and is now ready to make the step up to the first team.
“It’s about time he gets his opportunity to play in the senior team. He just has to make sure that he grabs the opportunity with both hands because of these problems with Khune and Petersen,” a source told the Mgosi Squad.
“Those are experienced guys, but they have been very poor this season, hence now the guys are trying to push Bontle as quickly as they can.”
“And I don’t think that he will struggle. He is a good goalkeeper, one of the best in his age group, and that’s why he is a junior national team player. Let’s see what’s going to be the way forward, especially there is a lot of pressure at the club to deliver.”
