Kaizer Chiefs latest: Cavin Johnson’s PSL record under scrutiny?

Cavin Johnson’s record as a head coach is also under public scutiny as he’s lost more official games than he has won in his coaching career.

The majority of Kaizer Chiefs fans are happy that Molefi Ntseki was sacked and that Arthur Zwane is NOT part of the technical team.

However, the appointment of Cavin Johnson as the interim coach has left the same Amakhosi fans divided across the country.

Ntseki vacated his position on Monday following a meeting with the Chiefs management, and this was on the back of losing 1-0 to AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout Cup.

The result saw a section of Chiefs fans throw objects at Ntseki after the final whistle, demanding that he leaves the club.

Zwane’s presence in the technical team also didn’t sit well with some fans who felt he was the reason Chiefs were not performing.

The 50-year-old mentor, though, wasn’t fired but he was demoted by the club – he has returned to the Chiefs development structures.

Johnson retained Dillon Sheppard as his only assistant in the newly-assembled technical team at Chiefs.

JOHNSON’S PSL RECORD UNDER SCRUTINY AFTER CHIEFS APPOINTMENT?

Johnson, an experienced mentor in his own right, will be in charge of Chiefs on an interim basis perhaps until the club finds a new coach.

The club didn’t specify as to how long he will be the head coach, but chances are that he could be given the job permanenty if the results improve.

However, there are concerns that Johnson doesn’t have a trophy to his name as head coach during his coaching career.

All the gold medal he owns came when he was the assistant coach, and that has led to Chiefs fans questioning whether or not he’s the right man to lead their club.

This is because Chiefs fans are more desperate for trophies than anything else after having gone eight full years without any major silverware.

Since becoming his own man in 2012, Johnson has coached 239 matches across all competitions in his career – he won 86 of those, drew 60 and lost 92.
