CAF-winning coach listed for Kaizer Chiefs job! – Report

A shock CAF-winning coach has come up as a surprise potential future Kaizer Chiefs coach. Watch out Nasreddine Nabi!

Florent Ibenge is the latest name to have come up for the Chiefs job.

His name will cause a headache to Orlando Pirates fans and excitement for Amakhosi supporters. This is because he infamously lead RS Berkane to CAF Confederation Cup glory, where they pipped the Bucs in the final.

IBENGE THE LATEST CANDIDATE FOR CHIEFS JOB

Ibenge is the latest name to pop up in discussions for the Amakhosi hot a seat.

Furthermore, Nabi and Amakhosi management are struggling to reach an agreement due to the Tanzanian’s demands.

He is insisting that he brings his entire technical team with him.

This is a problem because Amakhosi management’s original plan is to keep Arthur Zwane on board and to have him mentored by a experienced coach. So, if Nabi is signed, Zwane will have to leave but this could put Amakhosi management off of the deal altogether as well.

If the deal does fall through, Zwane will stay on and he could be joined by Ibenge.

“Florent Ibenge quit his post as coach of DR Congo as well as. AS Vita Sport whom he coach simultaneously and took up the job of head coach of crack Moroccan side RS Berkane, a club he led to CAF Confederation Cup success during 2021/22 season, beating Orlando Pirates in the final. He then resigned and is currently head coach of Sudanese side Al-Hilal, who lost and drew to Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League group stages. According to Siya Source, his name has also cropped up among the candidates earmarked for the co-coaching or technical advisor job at Chiefs,” the insider confirmed on SoccerLaduma.

MOSIMANE OUT, NABI THE FAVOURITE?

Mosimane has officially signed for United Arab Emirates outfit Al Wahda. Therefore, he is out of the picture.

Furthermore, Manqoba Mngqithi’s agent stated that he will be staying at Mamelodi Sundowns while Molefi Ntseki turned down the offer. Cavin Johnson was also offered to Amakhosi but the move did not materialize.

This leaves Amakhosi management with a decision between Nabi (at the cost of Zwane) or maintaining Zwane alongside Ibenge or Brandon Truter. They could also consider Rhulani Mokwena if recent reports around his potential exit are to be believed.
