CHIEFS STARS WHO COULD MAKE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP

Chiefs have several stars who could still make the national side if reach their potential.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Yusuf Maart have the best chance of playing for the national side in USA in 2026.

Furthermore, Given Msimango, Samkelo Zwane, Mduduzi Shabalala, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi and Ashley Du Preez all have a decent chance if they can peak in the next two years. Mthethwa has been a part of Hugo Broos plans since before he even joined Amakhosi. Therefore, he is currently a part of his plans and is expected to be for several seasons to come.

Meanwhile, Ngcobo is arguably one of the best players at. Unfortunately, he has been plagued by injury and a family trauma which has delayed his national progress.

However, he is slowly but surely returning to his best and given his skill, vision and composure on the ball he will certainly be in the picture by the time the tournament kicks off.

In contrast, Yusuf Maart was in the set up but has missed out on recent Bafana Bafana camps. This is owed largely to Amakhosi’s lack of winning momentum and his slight dip in form. So, he can certainly return to the setup if he returns to his best form and Amakhosi turn things around.

POTENTIAL TO REPRESENT BAFANA BAFANA IN THE FUTURE

Zwane and Shabalala are two of the most promising young starlets in the PSL. Moreover, they have shown plenty of promise since earning promotion into the senior side. Both men are touted for big things in the future and this could include representing South Africa.

It is all about how they handle the pressure at Chiefs and if they get regular playing time at Naturena. Meanwhile, Msimango has made recent training camps and is on the fringe of selection. He has the potential but actions speak louder than words. Such is the mantra for all these players – they have the potential but it boils down to how well they perform with the heat on at Amakhosi. Mdantsane and Mmodi joined the squad with plenty of hype but they are yet to deliver on the hype yet. Furthermore, Du Preez continues to blow hot and cold and will have to find consistency to change the equation having been in and around the national set up.
