The Glamour Boys have slipped to an 11th defeat in the league, their worst ever record in a top-flight campaign. What on earth is going wrong at Kaizer Chiefs? Some fans think it’s a family affair and a Motaung curse.

ICYMI: Three players Chiefs MUST build their future around

Kaizer Chiefs season hits new low

Another disappointing campaign for Chiefs will peter out and they could even finish 5th if they lose to Cape Town City on the final day of the season. They also have no trophies to show for their efforts this term. Chiefs have now lost four of their last five matches across all competitions and the campaign can’t finish soon enough for large sections of the club’s supporters.

Are the Glamour Boys suffering at the hands of nepotism?

Some fans certainly think so. @TheeUltimateLee on Twitter reckons Bobby Motaung, Kaizer Motaung Jr, Jessica Motaung and co aren’t fit for the roles entrusted to them within the club. It’s a bold theory, but one worth considering. Has Mr Motaung Jr achieved the objectives laid down to him as the sporting director of Kaizer Chiefs football club? It’s doubtful. One fan even said he was “building his legacy on a wetland.”

SuperSport and Pirates battle for 2nd

Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United will battle Orlando Pirates to the finish line for 2nd place in the PSL, which would secure progress to the CAF Champions League next season. Pirates and SuperSport have almost identical records, with the Buccaneers currently holding 2nd place by virtue of superior goal difference. Pirates travel to AmaZulu on the final day while SuperSport are away to Sekhukhune, who drew 1-1 with Pirates today in a dress rehearsal for the Nedbank Cup final.

Another trophy-less campaign in 2023-24 for Kaizer Chiefs is purely unthinkable for the supporters, and that should also be the case for the people in charge.
