Here is why Pirates is out for redemption after Cape Town defeat

Orlando Pirates is back in action this Saturday afternoon away at Richards Bay, it’s the quarter finals clash scheduled to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Pirates will be going into the game against The Natal Rich Boys licking their wounds after a shock defeat to Cape Town Spurs.

As reported by The Citizen on the 2nd of November, Orlando Pirates defender Bandile Shandu believes that a lack of clinical finishing was the culprit for their downfall against Spurs. The team created many goal scoring chances but their finishing let them down. “It’s a difficult result (to take) especially looking at the way we played, the chances we created, it’s very tough to take the this loss.” Shandu said.

How will Pirates redeem themselves after a poor run of form?

Pirates is now out for redemption in the Carling Cup when they face off against Richards Bay in match that can get the Buccaneers back into winning ways, this could potentially be a chance to prove to their doubters that winning the first domestic trophy of the season was no fluke. Pirates redemption will rely on a positive approach to the game, Pirates will need to maintain their domestic cup form if they are to overcome the KZN outfit.

Pirates is currently on a 4 games winless run in the league, it’s now a chance for the buccaneers to take their minds off their miseries in the league and go on to state their claim in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup. Pirates go into the game as the favorites to advance to the next round, this is backed by their good run in domestic Cups; as they managed to reach the finals in 3 of the last 3 domestic Cup finals in the PSL.

Pirates will hope for redemption in a domestic

The Soweto giants will motivated to bounce back and take one step closer to yet another Cup final. This would be a positive feat, given how the fortunes have been against them in recent league games. Richards Bay will also head to the game high in confidence after knocking out one Soweto team Swallows in the previous round. The belief will also be fueled as they watched on when their fellow league strugglers Cape Town Spurs pulled a rabbit out of a hat in midweek against the Buccaneers.
