Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder hoping to get ‘lucky’ at Baroka FC

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucky Mohomi has reportedly been training with struggling DStv Premiership side Baroka FC as he continues his search for employment.

The 30-year-old defender, who is currently a free agent, began training this week with Baroka FC after a proposed move to Marumo Gallants fell through.

In July 2016, after 30 matches for the side, Mohomi moved from Free State Stars to Mamelodi Sundowns where he played 32 matches in all competitions.

He was then sold in October 2020 to SuperSport United (13 matches) before being offloaded to GladAfrica Championship outfit Venda Football Academy.

He left Venda Football Academy on 1 January 2022.

According to a Kickoff source, Mohomi has now resurfaced at Baroka FC where he has impressed at training.

“He is doing well and the quality is there,” the source said.

“He is struggling with his fitness but he is working hard to improve it.

“I believe after next week the club will be in a good position to make a decision on whether to sign him or not.”

Baroka FC are currently last in the DStv Premiership

Baroka FC are currently bottom of the DStv Premiership standings with 17 points after 22 matches.

They will next be in action in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 on Sunday, 13 March when they play TS Galaxy (18:00).

Their next DStv Premiership assignment is on Sunday, 3 April away from home against Cape Town City FC (17:00).
