Former Kaizer Chiefs star set to join Soweto rivals? 

After a clear out at AmaZulu, quite a few players have been made available including a couple of former Kaizer Chiefs players. One could be heading back to Soweto!

Moroka Swallows delivered a statement of intent last week by signing Andile Jali as a free agent, after the in demand star left Mamelodi Sundowns.

Perhaps, Swallows’  first signs of ambition and looking to turn the tide were the appointment of veteran mentor Steve Komphela from Sundowns. His very close relationship with Jali would’ve undoubtedly played a role in helping the Dube Birds beat off a lot of clubs who may have even offered to pay more for the players services. Now as they continue their rebuild, it is believed that former Chiefs and AmaZulu star Dumisani Zuma is another player they hope to sign.

Zuma joined Chiefs under Komphela, roping the player in from the now defunct Bloemfontein Celtic. The attacker would then go on to leave Chiefs two seasons ago, finding himself released by Amakhosi, having had quite a few disciplinary issues during his last season at the club. He then joined AmaZulu on a free transfer and after just a solitary season at the club, the player was also released from Usuthu. Now according Soccer-Laduma, he could be on his way to a reunion with his former coach at Swallows. 

Zuma to sign for Swallows?

“After finishing in the top eight last season, the club is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure they have a strong squad and one of the players they are believed to be bringing is Dumisani Zuma. The former Kaizer Chiefs player was with Usuthu for just one season and the club decided against renewing his contract. It’s understood he is set to make a return to Gauteng to work with Komphela, who worked with Zuma at Chiefs.” Wrote the publication.

It is clear that Komphela backs himself to be able to ensure that Zuma and Jali, put their disciplinary issues behind them and knuckle down at Swallows next season.
