Forgotten Orlando Pirates wonderkid set for top flight return?

A former Orlando Pirates starlet has been linked with a blockbuster move to DStv Premiership side Chippa United

Chippa United are reportedly interested in signing former Orlando Pirates academy graduate Augustine Mahlonoko.

Many will remember Mahlonoko who made his debut for the Buccaneers at the tender age of 16 in 2018. Unfortunately for the skillful attacking midfielder, he was released by the club two years later.

He later enjoyed stints at Baroka and Pretoria Callies before joining Daine Klate’s Motsepe Foundation Championship side La Masia.

According to reports, Chippa United have been monitoring the 22-year-old and are interested in signing him from La Masia.

“The 22-year-old midfielder is believed to be one of coach Morgan Mammila’s targets in their quest to reinforce the Chippa squad for the last half of the season, and a deal is possible should formal communication with La Masia be made.” a Citizen report read.

“We have to give the supporters hope by producing better performance. It is simple,” – Jose Riveiro said as quoted by Sowetan.

“We are not finding the goal as easy as we would like and that’s a handicap. But I’m busy with the problems that we have to make sure that we solve them.

“If Orlando Pirates continue having all problems, then we are doing something wrong. I’m busy trying to help my players to win games and score more goals, but I’m not concerned.”
