Chiefs have failed to win trophies and titles for the last seven years now and Nhlapo believes, that they may be losing their culture under the current regime.

Chiefs will finish trophy-less

It will be seven seasons without a trophy for Chiefs this season, with the club suffering a shock 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy. That defeat, ensuring that Stuart Baxter’s side are knocked out of the Nedbank Cup. It was, of course not the first time that the Amakhosi went down to the Rockets, having lost the 2019 final of the tournament to the same opponents with the same scoreline.

Nhlapo has since voiced his concerns about the current Chiefs set up, including that of Baxter’s decision making.

Baxter’s decision making questioned?

“Being a head coach doesn’t mean you must always have the last word, Ideas need to be shared. We can’t always blame the office and the players need to play for the jersey. Remember this team is not old but big. There must be something special about this team.” Nhlapo told Kick Off.

Nhlapo then went on to question the decision of the Chiefs top brass of placing Baxter in charge of their CAF Champions League against Al Ahly last season.

Zwane done wrong?

“Arthur took the team to the Champions League final, come the final, a white man is in charge. It looks like they also don’t know the Chiefs culture anymore. Slowly, bit by bit that club is going down” concluded a concerned Nhlapo.

Despite being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Cape Town City, Amakhosi still managed to move up to third on the DStv Premiership log. They also have potentially four games in hand over log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
