The midfielder, who progressed through SuperSport United’s reserves and experienced various loan spells, signed for Moroka Swallows from Matsatsantsa in October 2020. Kamohelo Mahlatsi, aged 25, departed from Amakhosi in September last year following a one-year stint with the club, having initially joined from the now-defunct Moroka Swallows in 2022.

After Chiefs released Mahlatsi, Swallows chairman David Mogashoa shared a hopeful image on X, showing the player in full Dube Birds regalia, hinting at a potential return to Izinyoni. However, no deal materialised.

Known as ‘Nyaope’ in football circles, Mahlatsi made seven appearances for the Glamour Boys, starting three matches and coming off the bench in four others.

Interview revelations

In his interview, Mahlatsi openly shared his admiration for Chiefs, praising them as the standout team in the DStv Premiership.

“Chiefs were sharp, it’s just that there are some things we can’t speak about them,” said Mahlatsi. “But Chiefs are top, top, top. I don’t think there’s any team like Chiefs. Everything you want is there. I can say they are the best…but we know a thing cannot be perfect.”

Reasons behind his departure

Mahlatsi disclosed that his decision to leave Chiefs was influenced by his limited playing time.

“I could see I was not playing and I spoke to them, told them I wanted to leave and stuff,” he added. “They agreed.”
