The latest team to be eliminated from contention was Orlando Pirates who were held to a goalless draw by bottom side Baroka FC in Polokwane.

Orlando Pirates now have 39 points from 25 matches, meaning the most they could possibly finish the season on should they win those remaining matches is 54.

With log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns already boasting 57 points, Buccaneers fans will have to wait another season at least for any league silverware.

Besides Mamelodi Sundowns, who are the obvious candidates for a fifth consecutive title, Royal AM, Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City FC are the only other possible winners of the league title this campaign.

However, it would take something of a miracle for any of those latter three sides to lift the trophy this season.
