As reported by The South African website, while Mamelodi Sundowns have long since been crowned champions and will represent the country in next season’s CAF Champions League, the battle for the second berth will only be decided on the final day between Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.

Whoever ends up third will contest the CAF Confederation Cup in 2023/24.

Meanwhile, five teams have already confirmed their spots in next season’s MTN8 tournament with the final three participants to be determined on Saturday, 20 May.

The 16th and bottom side – which will be relegated – is still to be confirmed.

However, that’s a sore point if you are current bottom side Maritzburg United who face Mamelodi Sundowns in the only match on Tuesday, 16 May due to Masandawana’s CAF Champions League second leg clash taking place on Saturday.

The Team of Choice are at a disadvantage playing their final match four days ahead of when fellow relegation candidates Chippa United and Marumo Gallants are in action.

The Golden Boot winner will also be decided on the final day with two players currently tied at the top of the standings.
