Kaizer Chiefs legend Shane McGregor has once again failed to hide his emotions and blasted attacking midfielder Khama Billiat’s contribution, telling the club to give him the boot.

The retired Chiefs striker, McGregor aired his views as the club is yet to decide on Billiat and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s futures.

However, McGregor didn’t mince his words, saying it’s a waste of time retaining Billiat at the club as Amakhosi look to win trophies and end the eight-year drought.

Despite the club remaining mum on Khune and Billiat’s contract situations, McGregor wants his former club to keep the veteran keeper for at least one season.

“To be honest, what has Billiat done since he has been at Chiefs? Not much,” McGregor is quoted by SowetanLIVE.

“For the goalkeeper, he [Khune] can still mature with experience, you can still go for a few more years and also he can help other keepers, so that can be worth it keeping him.

“But for me personally, it is a waste of time keeping Billiat, but as I said, it is a difficult one to call because you don’t know who will come in and what will happen, whether the coach will want to use him.

McGREGOR QUESTIONS CHIEFS POOR PLANNING

While Chiefs have just announced Molefi Ntseki as the new coach to succeed Arthur Zwane who failed to end the unwanted trophy drought last season, McGregor has questioned the club’s poor planning.

The club has been heavily linked with Tunisia’s Nasreddine Nabi but after talks broke down, reports surfaced that Chiefs were looking to lure Manqoba Mngqithi from Sundowns.

In a twist of events, the Glamour Boys as Chiefs are referred to, shocked the football family when they unveiled Ntseki as the new boss on Wednesday.

However, the former hitman, McGregor expressed confusion in how the club signed new and released players when there was no announcement on the new coach.

“I don’t understand. I mean it is already July, it seems there is no decision about the coach. Is Zwane going to be there? I’m not sure if they made a decision to keep him,” he added.

“If you bring in a coach now, who is buying the players? It’s like Richards Bay, they have fired the coach, but they have been buying players.

“What if a coach comes in and he doesn’t like the players that have been bought and they don’t suit his style of play? It is ridiculous, to be honest. They [Chiefs] should have sorted this out a long time ago.”
