Cape Town Spurs are duly still hunting for new players in order to save their DStv Premiership status. Is Thato Mokeke set to join?

Cape Town Spurs only have a little time left. The DStv Premiership newcomers have 14 games left to avoid relegation.

Following the arrival of four new players in the past month, Spurs could add a fourth name.

Former Citizen Mokeke (33) has reportedly started to train at Ikamva with the Urban Warriors.

“According to the information received by this publication, Mokeke was released by City within the January window transfer despite the announcement being made after the Deadline, allowing him to join a club of his choice as a free agent,” iDiski Times’ Sinethemba Makonco reported.

“iDiski Times understands that the former SuperSport United midfielder arrived at iKamva on Sunday and he is currently training at the club.

“The Urban Warriors are interested in signing Mokeke to further bolster their squad, however it is unclear if immediately due to his current condition, having been injured for most of the season,” the reported added.

NEW FACES

Meanwhile, Spurs are busy integrating four new players: Rafiq de Goede (central defender), Gadiel Kamagi (left-wing back), Sphesihle Maduna (attacking midfielder) and Katlego Maphathe (right back).

The bottom-placed Cape gaints have also promoted four new youngsters: Obakhe Tshaya (defender/midfielder), Reece Braithwaite (left-wing-back/winger), Siviwe Nkwali (defender/midfielder) and Jeandre Gaffoor (defender/midfielder).

Spurs, lingering at the bottom with nine points from safety, will kick off the second-half of the season against AmaZulu at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday, 17 Febuary at 17:30.
