Cape Town City have announced the signing of Zimbabwean striker Douglas Mapfumo with 24 hours to go before the start of the new season.

Mapfumo joins City following his departure from GladAfrica Championship side Cape Umoya United.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Cape Umoya United from Zimbabwean outfit Legends Academy where he never got to play top-flight football.

Mapfumo also had a trial with the now defunct Bidvest Wits but his proposed move to Braamfontein failed after the team was sold.

The Mother City-based outfit took to their social media platforms on Friday afternoon to unveil the Mapfumo.

The lanky centre-forward has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with City, and will wear the No.19 jersey at the club.
