Earlier this morning, rumours surfaced that Chiefs had wrapped a three year deal with Yanga for Mayele, almost out of nowhere.

Mayele a top marksman

The DR Congo-born Mayele is 28-years-old and finished second in the top scorer rankings for Yanga in the Tanzanian top flight last season, after notching up 16 goals. Earlier this week it had emerged that he is a real target for Chiefs and if the reports that he has signed for the club prove  accurate, then that would mean they would’ve have moved impressively swiftly to acquire the player’s services.

However, those reports are now seemingly inaccurate as both an official from Yanga as well as Chiefs have commented on the speculation. Administrator of the Tanzanian giants Senzo Mbatha, as well as Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr have taken to their official Twitter accounts to pour cold water on the deal linking Mayele to the DStv Premiership club.

Reports of him signing for Chiefs came this morning

The news of Mayele signing for Chiefs was tweeted this morning by Ghanaian journalist Nuhu Adams.

South African giants  @KaizerChiefs

have completed the signing of

@yangasc1935

  striker Fiston Kalala Mayele (28) on a three-year contract, announcement soon.

Mayele was 2nd highest scorer in the Tanzania Premier League this season with 16 goals.

Here we go…” Adams tweeted.

Yanga respond

That then sent Chiefs fans into a frenzy, before Mbatha went and replied to the tweet saying the following: “They must have done a serious magic to sign him while he is still contracted at

@yangasc1935” with a few sarcastic excited emoji’s and a love and piece emoji.

Motaung also pours cold water on the rumours

Motaung Jnr then issued his own response to Mbatha, seemingly also quashing any truth to the story. “Well said sir! the season of silly reporting continues” Said the Chiefs official.

That has since placed doubt on the validity of the signing of Mayele and unless things turn around very quickly, it does not look like Chiefs added the striker to their books.
