Kaizer Chiefs have signed sealed the transfer of long-term midfield target Siyethemba Sithebe from Amazulu, according to the latest reports.

Kaizer Chiefs have signed sealed the transfer of long-term midfield target Siyethemba Sithebe from Amazulu, according to the latest reports.

Earlier this week, strong rumours had emerged, linking Sithebe with Chiefs, this after links between the two parties had seemed to have quietened done over the last transfer window.  

Sithebe’s ship to Naturena seemed to have sailed

Former Chiefs boss Gavin Hunt opted to sign Phathutshedzo Nange last season, but Amakhosi were prevented from registering the player due to a transfer ban imposed by FIFA at the time. New club boss Stuart Baxter then elected to bring back combative midfielder Cole Alexander into the team, while also reinstating Kenyan international Akumu Agay into midfield and new signing Njabulo Ngcobo as a converted deep-lying midfielder.

However, that does not seem to have stopped the Glamour Boys for dipping into the market and getting another midfielder to add to their ranks. Earlier this week, rumours emerged of Sithebe being in talks with Amakhosi, with the Soweto giants said to have wanted the dread-locked player at Naturena “as soon as possible”.

Now according to sources speaking to Kickoff.com, Chiefs have got their way, and Sithebe will be unveiled as a new Glamour Boy in the first week of the new year. The source even went as far as revealing the details of his contract length.

“It’s a three-year deal with an additional two-year option, He (Sithebe) is also set to begin training with Kaizer Chiefs in January.” Confirmed the source to the same publication.

After the initial rumours of the deal between Sithebe and Chiefs came out, Amazulu coach Benni McCarthy appeared to have reluctantly accepted defeat, with the club’s efforts to keep the player in Durban if the opportunity arose.

McCarthy did, however, also confirm that Sithebe had not been featuring for Amazulu of late due to a minor heart issue. Although it might’ve threatened to, if reports prove accurate, it wouldn’t of detracted Chiefs from bringing the boyhood club supporter “home”. What do you think of the move Chiefs fans?
