Brazilian football coach Alexandre Gallo is reportedly high on the Kaizer Chiefs shortlist for the head coach role.

Pitso Mosimane is the only coach ahead of Gallo. That is according to the alleged pecking order of the shortlist.

On Thursday it was revealed that Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi were on the list.

Brazilian coach is Kaizer Chiefs No 2

Now insiders have revealed the name of the foreigner Chiefs want the most.

“You know among the five shortlisted is the Brazilian coach Mr Gallo. But he is not like the first choice. The first choice is obviously Pitso (Mosimane). They are looking at a local coach first and Mosimane is on top of the list but if for other reasons they can’t get him then Mr Gallo is the second choice. He is also on the shortlist as we speak,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

Kaizer Chiefs’ targets might come with problems though.

“The problem with Chiefs concerning the coaches they really want is that they are attached to different teams at the moment and they would not come easy as those clubs could either offer them new contracts or they would be expensive on their own but those are the coaches they want,” said a second Soccer Laduma source.

“Coach Alexandre (Gallo) is on the shortlist and I think only Pitso Mosimane is the main challenge to him as things stand,” the source added.

Keeping an eye on things

Still another source revealed that the club are closely monitoring the coach’s current employment situations.

“I think what has delayed the selection and announcement of a new coach is that two these coaches are still contracted to their current clubs and they don’t want to be in breach of contract or something like that,” said the second Siya source.

“The two South African coaches are both still coaching different teams and Chiefs are waiting for their contracts to expire as well.

“But coach Pitso and coach Manqoba are the two believed to be part of the shortlist of the five coaches,” the source observed.

Kaizer Chiefs have not yet confirmed the existence of a shortlist.
