According to the Durban club’s official statement, the 32-year-old striker died at Midlands Medical Center Hospital in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon, Sunday, 5 November.

The club confirmed that Ntuli died after an aggressive form of cancer that metastasised to take his life.

The Pietermaritzburg-born player passes away five months after he married Sinenjabulo “Sne” Zungu, who is the daughter of the club’s CEO, Sandile Zungu.

Before scoring 70 goals in 238 games, Ntuli’s career began at the lower division club Sabantu Shooting Stars in 2011 before moving to Golden Arrows’ reserve side.

He later became a DStv Premiership footballer at Golden Arrows, where he earned an early breakthrough to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014.

Ntuli’s Sundowns career only lasted one season before he was loaned to Platinum Stars and AmaZulu. Usuthu eventually signed the 1.8m tall attacker on a permanent deal in 2019.

Thank you for the football. Rest in Peace Mphemba mfowethu.
