Bombshell: Ex-Pirates star Lorch was offered to Chiefs TWICE before joining Sundowns!
Ex-Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch may have signed for Mamelodi Sundowns on transfer deadline day, but he could’ve so easily ended up at Kaizer Chiefs!

Thembinkosi Lorch joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Orlando Pirates, but could’ve easily ended up Kaizer Chiefs!

Sundowns were able to complete the shock signing of Lorch on transfer deadline day, blindsiding Pirates fans.

Despite already cruising in the DStv Premiership, Sundowns were the most active side in the January window. The Brazilians already have a nine-point gap on second placed Cape Town City, with three games in hand. Thad did not stop them from pursuing a squad boost ahead of the second half of the season. Of course for them, they also have to factor continental commitments with hopes of a Club FIFA World Cup too. The club obviously see Lorch playing a major part in this mission.

On Tuesday this publication reported that, although Lorch has played for Pirates, and soon Sundowns, he grew up supporting Chiefs!

“It is not like my dad wanted me to sign for Chiefs because the truth of the matter is that Chiefs just didn’t want me at that moment. My dad is a Chiefs fan just like I also supported Chiefs growing up, so he had a dream that I get to play for Chiefs.” Said Lorch to KickOff.com publication.

Now according to The Citizen, could have fulfilled his father’s dream and his dream of playing for Chiefs!
Lorch offered to Chiefs twice before joining Sundowns from Pirates
“Look, people are still talking about the transfer now but they could see that Lorch was no longer happy. He should have gone last year already and the move didn’t materialise. I know for a fact that he was also offered to Chiefs last year and again this year before Sundowns signed him.” Said the source.

That would come as a shock to Pirates fans, who might reluctantly accept a key player moving to Sundowns. However, a player like Lorch moving to arch rivals Chiefs, would’ve been tough to swallow. It is, however, hard to believe that Irvin Khoza would’ve sanctioned the move, anyway.
