Johnson has often alluded to the media that, he believes in the current crop of players he has inherited at Chiefs, and just needs more time to coach them, rather than go into the market. With that being said, he would be the first to understand the level of expectations at the club, both from the fans and the management, and if he is to be honest, he would know the squad needs to be reinforced.

So far during this transfer window, Chiefs have been linked with the likes of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC, Oswin Appollis of Polokwane City as well as Riaan Hanamub of AmaZulu. Another player that was linked with the club is Swedish based attacking midfielder Tashreeq Matthews. In the goal keeping department, they have also been heavily linked to Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili.

Nwabili recently started Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in the Super Eagles’ AFCON opener, and plies his trade for Chippa United in the PSL. His performances on the local scene are thought to have attracted the interest of Chiefs, who a reportedly looking to add him to their squad. But now, it seems as if things could get complicated for the Naturena outfit.

Nwabili could opt for Europe over Chiefs?

That is because, according to Unplayable, Chiefs would have to go toe to toe with Belgium side Royal Union Saint-Golloise. Making things worse for the Soweto giants is the fact that, should Nwabili impress at the AFCON he could end up attracting even more European attention, which would undoubtedly prove to be more enticing than staying in the PSL for the goal minder.
