A prominent Bafana Bafana star has been turning heads in Europe, and that’s bad news for local admirers like Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Mokwana shows early promise for Bafana Bafana

Sekhukhune winger Elias Mokwana recently made his national team debut. He’s got admirers around the country, but now there are a few abroad too. A goal against Andorra and an assist against 2019 African champions Algeria is proof he feels at home at the top level.

According to football agent Pontsho Maduma via KickOff, the 24-year-old has some new admirers.

“Look, we are looking overseas. There have been a couple of calls from overseas, but locally we haven’t heard from anyone. Nothing concrete, really,” Madumo told the publication.

“We have not received offers, but it’s just enquiries from people we’re working with, enquiring about a player who is currently doing well.”

“Bafana Bafana was a boost for the player. He did very well. We have associates we are working with (overseas) asking questions regarding the player, but no offers as yet,” he said.

“There was applause from people and congratulations from people, but with the offers, it’s still early days. It was just associates asking about the player.”

‘Kaizer Chiefs target’ Sekhukhune man is shining

According to a report from iDiski Times, it would take R35 million to prize Elias Mokwana, Babina Noko’s jewel in the crown, away from Sekhukhune. Let’s be realistic. That number will drop sharply once Sekhukhune receives some formal offers for the Bafana Bafana man. He’s got four goals and four assists in 19 league appearances this term, a stellar output for a wideman. Mokwana and his teammates face champions-elect Sundowns in their next league encounter, with hopes of a top-three finish very much still alive for Lehlohonolo Seema’s team.

Mokwana is not giving anything away

“I don’t know anything about that because my agent has not said anything.”

“So, I know nothing. All I am focused on is here at Sekhukhune, and we will see what happens going forward. “It has always been my dream to play abroad,” said the Bafana star.
