Cape Town Spurs have confirmed the arrival of Mamelodi Sundowns full-back Nicholus Lukhubeni.

The newly promoted DStv Premiership side have bolstered their defence up with the acquisition of the talented 27-year-old defender.

Shaun Bartlett’s side have already signed Luvuyo Phewa and Siyanda Msani from the Brazilians on loan for the 2023/24 campaign.

Lukhubeni spent the last four seasons out on loan from the Brazilians. Most recently, the speedy full-back was out at Maritzburg United for the 2022/23 campaign.

“Marcelo Allende consistently enhances the team’s all-round performance. While I am proud of players like Tebza (Teboho Mokoena), Aubrey Modiba, Mshishi (Themba Zwane) and Lucas Ribeiro Costa for their performances today.” Mokwena told the Mamelodi Sundowns website following their victory over Swallows FC in the MTN8 quarterfinals.

“It was Marcelo who consistently lifted the level of play for those around him. I admire the fluidity of his ball movement and his knack for finding those subtle pockets of space while disrupting the movements of opponents.

“We are indeed fortunate to have such an intelligent footballer at our club. Having him alongside other exciting and intelligent players is a privilege, as it is a case of iron sharpening iron.”
