Andile Jail agrees to join new DStv Premiership side! 

Former Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows star Andile Jali has found a new PSL club. 

Jali had been without a club since he left Swallows at the beginning of the season, as part of their mass exodus. 

Jali left Swallows last in January

He was thought to have been part of the Swallows contingent that went on strike last year. This strike saw the Swallows players withdraw from their last two games of 2023, which proved costly to the club. The PSL ended up fining the Dube Birds a cool R1 million for failing to honour those fixtures. They did, however, receive the leniency of having R600 000 of it suspended. With the club already cash-strapped, that was a sanction they could ill afford. They then also decided to take action on the players who had decided against playing, effectively firing them. Furthermore, the league granted three points to both of their opponents, Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.

Since then, Jali has been on the sidelines, without a club, with the prolonged wait drawing speculation on his playing future. His agent Mike Makaab had also hinted that the veteran midfielder was at a crossroads in his career. Now as it was all thought to be hanging in the balance, it was revealed two weeks that he would keep playing.

Now set for Chippa switch

Last week Jali confirmed that he had all but concluded a deal with a PSL side. According to iDiski Times, he has since agreed a deal with Chippa United. 

“Former Mamelodi  Sundowns and  Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali has agreed on terms with Chippa United and he is set to be unveiled Thursday. Jali whose home is in Eastern Cape, Matatiela has agreed on terms with Eastern Cape-based side Chippa United. The Chilli Boyz are expected to unveil AJ as early as Thursday.” Wrote the publication. 

It now remains to be seen what Jali still has to offer at Chippa next season.
