The PSL Golden Boot race will be decided on the final day of the season with two players on 12 goals but four on 10 goals.

A final day hat-trick in the PSL would be the big shock of the season but it’s not unimaginable.

PSL Golden Boot race reaches finale

The PSL form of Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng could see him sneak into top spot while veteran striker Bradley Grobler is another to watch out for.

Etiosa Ighodaro would not only fire Chippa to PSL safety with a treble but also himself to top spot. The on-loan forward has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Chiefs have struggled for goals

The Glamour Boys best scorer this PSL season is Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana but he has been linked with a Chiefs exit after netting just seven times.

A player that could yet replace him is Khanyiso Mayo. The Cape Town City talent is the son of Patrick Mayo, a legend in Chiefs colours. And now Mayo junior has a chance to win the PSL Golden Boot.

Mayo is arguably the hottest talent in the PSL and is currently tied with Peter Shalulile in the race but the Sundowns star can’t do anything to stop Mayo passing him. Sundowns have completed their PSL fixture schedule leaving Cape Town City’s hopeful with a massive chance to get to 13 and win the title on his own.

Chiefs face City and Mayo on Saturday in a PSL humdinger as the Cape side will finish fourth if they beat Amakhosi. It would almost certainly end Arthur Zwane’s time as a PSL head coach.
