Manchester United fans want new owners but the wait to see if the Glazer family will actually sell continues to drag on and on.

While it’s been half a year since the American owners said they would end their time at Manchester United, the protracted sale talks continue to crawl along.

It is reported that it will indeed take £6 billion for the Glazers to sell, the process has seen Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus quit the race.

Manchester United fans out of patience

“The bidding is turning into a farce,” Zilliacus said as reported by the BBC.

A fourth round has seen a bid of around £5 billion but still there is no clarity on when the deal will be agreed.

The Glazers bought Manchester United for £790m in 2005.

The leading bidders are Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group.

Sheikh Jassim wants to buy 100% of United, while Ineos want the Glazer family’s 69% shareholding.

It is thought the Ineos bid still values the club higher.

The transfer window then opens on 10 June

And so much of the Manchester United fans want a deal done by then.

Former United captain Gary Neville said this week on social media the Glazers were “making it up as they go along” and need to get out “by the end of May”.

Some wonder if the Glazers still want to sell given the protracted negotiations and long delays.
