Despite Pitso Mosimane having led Al Ahli back into the Pro League, the experienced coach has officially left the the Saudi club, with a recent salary payment debacle fuelling exit talks.

After terminating his contract, Mosimane has now shared a classy message, expressing his “satisfaction for having achieved the difficult task of promoting the team back to the Saudi Pro League”.

He went on to thank the players and supporters in particular.

The popular coach is now back on the market, and will undoubtedly have plenty of new job opportunities to consider, with options said to be available in the Gulf region and in Africa.

Mosimane’s exit from Al Ahli comes just as Chiefs are said to be considering various new coaching options, although Nasreddine Nabi is widely reported to be the favourite for the Amakhosi job.

Recently, when speaking to an Arabian TV channel, Pitso confirmed his last salary payment was way back in January, while he also admitted that he felt he wasn’t afforded the desired influence at Al Ahli.

“I’m not the number one person in the team. The number one person in the team is the president. The number two person is the vice-president and I’m number three,” Mosimane said.

“I recommended the players, I gave them the players that can take us to promotion (but) they brought their own players. I saw (Nicolas) Milesi at training and (Vinicius) Amaral. I knew they were talking to him, but I suggested another player and suddenly I saw him (Amaral) in my office, and they said here is a new player, I said OK.”

COULD PITSO HEAD TO CHIEFS?

Interestingly, Mosimane has suggested he could be open to the option of coaching Chiefs, although he said that he’d heard nothing as yet.

“I’ll ask my agent but he has never told me anything about Kaizer Chiefs,” Mosimane told Power FM.

“But anything is possible, I like projects so if someone gives me a project and has a vision. I also have my say on how things can go from step one, two and three.”
