Orlando Pirates advance to CAF Confederation Cup group stages

Orlando Pirates are through to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup without kicking a ball in the second leg.

The Buccaneers were set to host LPRC Oilers whom they beat 2-0 in the first leg last week, but the Liberian outfit has withdrawn from the competition.

In a statement released on Thursday, CAF confirmed Oilers’ withdrawal, consequently this weekend’s game has been withdrawn.

Oilers had a mountain to climb as they needed to win by three clear goals in order to knock Pirates out of the competition.

“CAF has received a letter from Liberia FA confirming the withdrawal of LPRC Oilers from the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup this season.

“Consequently, this weekend’s scheduled fixture between Orlando Pirates and LPRC Oilers has been cancelled in accordance to Regulations of the competition.”
