At 34, Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Themba “Mshishi” Zwane is not slowing down, and he is close to sealing a new deal.

Phakaaathi reports that the reigning DStv Premiership champions, Sundowns, are close to reaching an agreement on a new deal with Mshishi that will keep the veteran midfielder at the club for three more seasons.

Still yet to arrive in Mzansi following their Afcon exploits with Bafana Bafana where Mshishi netted two goals and provided a single assist, Zwane remains one of the inspiring stars at Sundowns.

The South African understands that the Bafana star’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but Sundowns have a one-year option.

The football publication also reports that the Brazilians, Sundowns, are set to offer Mshishi a two-year deal as they are seriously keen to retain one of their longest-serving players.

“The player and the club are not worried as a new deal is on the cards. Themba is valued by Sundowns, and he’s also not thinking about leaving,” a source told Phakaaathi.

“Rulani also values Mshishi because he’s still consistent even at his age. You can see this season that his time on the pitch is being managed.

“He’s also a leader in the team, and his influence in the change room is also important. Expect an announcement about the extension to be made before the season ends.”
