Kaizer Chiefs flop fails to deliver on a much bigger stage!

A Kaizer Chiefs flop has again failed to deliver, this time on a much bigger stage with all the expectations and faith in him.

A Kaizer Chiefs flop has again failed to deliver, this time on a much bigger stage with all the expectations and faith in him.

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana endured a disappointing night on Tuesday as Burundi failed to qualify for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Burundi needed to avoid defeat away to Cameroon to stand a good chance of qualifying to the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast.

However, they were hammered 3-0 by the Indomitable Lions on the night, and thus, finished third on the Group C log.

And Bimenyimana, who was recently released by Chiefs after a below-par season he had with them, started the game but had to be substituted as he was nowhere to be seen.

This is a missed opportunity for Bimenyimana to at least have tried to prove his critics, especially from South Africa wrong following his departure from Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs released Bimenyimana from his contract despite his contribution of eight goals across all competitions.

However, five of the eight goals were penalties, including a hat-trick of them against Stellenbosch FC in the league, and Chiefs weren’t entirely happy with him.

Upon leaving Chiefs, Bimenyimana seemingly breathed a sigh of relief as he penned a farewell which suggested that he had long been waiting for his exit.

He has since joined Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi in an effort to revive his career, and he’s got all the time in the world to that now that Burundi is not going to the AFCON finals in Ivory Coast.
