Multiple signs already indicate that Chiefs are set to be far more active in the next transfer window, with one new signing reportedly secured.

According to multiple reports, Kaizer Chiefs have made a breakthrough in the pursuit of signing Stellenbosch skipper Zitha Kwinika – who was recently linked with the Soweto giants.

POLL: WHAT DO CHIEFS NEED TO REVERSE FORTUNES NEXT SEASON?

Kwinika is a Chiefs academy product, but had been sold outright to Chippa United around 2015, while he has enjoyed spells at Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch.

According to Soccer Laduma, Kwinika is on the club’s list of potential new additions for the new term, with the Siya crew reporting on “good authority” that Amakhosi have made progress with the deal and that he could be returning to Naturena “should all the finer details be agreed to in the coming weeks”.

Meanwhile, iDiski Times reported that personal terms had apparently been agreed with Chiefs, while also settling on a transfer for an undisclosed fee.

It’s more recently been reported by iDiski Times Kaizer Chiefs scouts were in Cape Town last month as Spurs drew 1-1 with Polokwane City. One of the players they were keeping a close eye on is said to be young winger Chumani Butsaka, while they were also apparently impressed with defender Rushwin Dortley.

“Yes, they were here for the Bayhill tournament and attended our game to watch our boys,” a source at Cape Town Spurs confirmed.

“Remember, Kaizer Chiefs were in Cape Town in January for a camp and were impressed by Rushwin and Chumani then already.

“But it wasn’t only Chiefs scouts, scouts from Mamelodi Sundowns were also at that game.”

Chiefs are set to go through a considerable rebuilding phase before next season

Meanwhile, at a more senior level, Amakhosi were also said to be keen on bringing Chippa United striker Bienvenu Eva Nga to Naturena, but this move – by contrast – has failed to materialise.

Previous reports suggested Nga was coming out of contract at the end of June and could join Chiefs as a free agent if the various parties were able to sign off on terms that have apparently been agreed upon. Yet, the deal has now collapsed.

“Yes, the deal is off, we couldn’t agree on personal terms and as things stand, it doesn’t look like Eva Nga will be going to Chiefs as initially planned,” the player’s agent Charles Domingoea told iDiski Times.
