Did Chiefs cost Ngezana a place in Champions League?

Moldova Super Liga champions FC Sheriff wanted to buy Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana but couldn’t agree on the asking price.

According to iDiski Times, Romanian giants FCSB will part ways with a cool R12 million for the services of the South African junior international. 

But FC Sheriff were interested but couldn’t agree a price with Kaizer Chiefs.

CHIEFS REJECTED FC SHERIFF

“Moldova Super Liga champions FC Sheriff, who will play in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, then came in last month and made an opening offer of a free loan with an option to buy for around R2.75 million, his agency New Generation Footballers Management confirmed to iDiski Times. The Soweto giants held firm with an asking price in excess of R8 million for their development product, should any of the interested clubs be keen on his services.” Wrote the publication.

Not all is lost for Ngezana, however, as he will still be playing in Europe in the UEFA Europa Conference League with FCSB next season. That, alone, represents a sizeable step up for his career and as well as profit for Chiefs on their academy product. 

The 25-year-old defender joined Romanian Liga 1 side after signing a five-year deal with the club last week, it was reported

Ngezana says goodbye

Ngezana himself took to Instagram, to sent a message to his former teammates, coaches and supporters.

“I had many mixed emotions about the decision I took for my future,” Ngezana.

“This has been the toughest decision I’ve took for me and family but I always envisaged leaving on the right terms in the right way and at the right time and that is now.

“Growing up supporting this team it as a dream come true to be the part of it. The experiences of highs and lows created great memories of brotherhood,”Ngezana said on Instagram.

“I will never put into words the love and support I got from this family of Kaizer Chiefs and the fans since day one till this day of my departure.
