Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro had less to say following their shock exit from the CAF Champions League on Friday evening.
The Buccaneers lost 5-4 on penalties to Jwaneng Galaxy at the Orlando Stadium on Friday night. Although Riveiro’s side won 1-0, it wasn’t enough to win the tie as the two teams were tied 1-1 on aggregate after the second leg. After an intense penalty shootout, Jwaneng won 5-4, dumping Pirates out of the competition.

Riveiro had less to say during the post-match conference.
“If I say what I learned, I get suspended, probably. So I will try to keep quiet,” he was quoted on FARPost.

“Like I used to say, that’s part of your [media] job. It’s your role to talk about the truth of things and to do deep analysis about a lot of things that happen during the games. But you will not do it, and I will not do it as well,” he added.
The Spaniard, though, admitted that there were a lot of things that the team were supposed to do in order to control the game better.
“But it is difficult; let’s leave it there. It is complicated,” Riveiro said after the game.

This was not the first time that Orlando Pirates were eliminated by a team from Botswana. In 2010, Gaborone United eliminated the Buccaneers in the preliminary stages of the competition despite Ruud Krol’s team going 2-0 up. After a 0-0 draw in Botswana, Pirates went 2-0 ahead of Gaborone United, but two late goals gave Botswana the win by scoring two away goals.
Riveiro and his charges have a chance to redeem themselves next month when they play Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final.
