Banyana star Mbane reveals her World Cup aspirations

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Banyana Banyana defender Bambanani Mbane has expressed delight in being part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup squad as she reveals her aspirations.

The Masandwana defender, Mbane says she is privileged to be part of the Desiree Ellis-coached Banyana team that will represent Mzansi in Australia and New Zealand.

The World Cup tournament is set to get underway next week, the Sterkspruit-born Mbane can’t underestimate the glorious opportunity to represent her country.

BANYANA’S MBANE TALKS ASPIRATIONS AT WORLD CUP

The talented Banyana defender, Mbane is hoping to contribute to the team and build up on her debut appearance at the global stage in France during the previous showpiece.

Formerly with Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies, Mbane is now determined to make her mark and aspires to play a vital role in helping Banyana make it out of the group stages.

“My ultimate aspiration is to make a significant contribution to the team’s success in reaching the knockout stage and leave a lasting impression,” Mbane told Sundowns media team.

“The extraordinary performance of Morocco in the Fifa Men’s World Cup last year has been a true inspiration for me, and I am wholeheartedly motivated by their achievements.

“As reigning African champions, we are filled with immense pride and unwavering determination as we prepare to represent our continent at the highest level in Australia and New Zealand.”

MBANE ON REPRESENTING MZANSI ON GLOBAL STAGE

The South Africans, Banyana are scheduled to open their World Cup account versus hot favourites Sweden on July 23, then meet their Argentine counterparts five days later before facing the Italians on August 2.

Despite all the financial troubles regarding the bonus saga that rocked the African Queens before heading to the global tournament, Mbane remains hopeful that Banyana will do the nation proud.

“Being selected from a pool of talented players to represent the nation is truly a privilege,” added the Banyana stopper.
