After naming his 23-man squad on Thursday, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is not concerned about Zakhele Lepasa’s goal drought and form.

Lepasa has been included in the Bafana squad that will face Eswatini and Cote d’Ivoire this month and Broos backs the Orlando Pirates hitman.

In a response to the media, the Belgian said Lepasa can still find his form and that naturally happens to every forward.

The Soweto-born forward started the current season on a high, netting an impressive 10 goals across all competitions for Pirates.

BROOS NOT CONCERNED WITH LEPASA GOAL DROUGHT

Despite his bright start, Lepasa has struggled to score for coach Jose Riveiro’s Pirates in his last three appearances across three competitions.

“Every striker has a moment of not scoring, it can happen,” said Broos per Phakaaathi.

“Sometimes it is from him, sometimes an opponent knows they have to watch him closely and so they play differently. And there is also your team. You score because your team gives you opportunities. It is a bit of a mix.”

LEPASA A DIFFERENT PLAYER FOR BAFANA, BROOS DELIGHTED

Judging his form for the 1996 African champions, Lepasa brings his free-scoring ability and Broos is delighted.

He scored the most crucial goals for Bafana and Broos when he netted in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia and Morocco.

“Lepasa has shown us he is a player who scores easily. Because he goes a few games and doesn’t score we don’t have to be worried, and not call him,” added Broos.

As reported by The South African, Bafana will play Isihlangu Semnikati at Orlando Stadium on October 13 and the Elephants four days later away in Abidjan.

Meanwhile, Riveiro and Pirates supporters will also bank on Lepasa’s goalscoring prowess when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final on Saturday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
